Biggest Festivals for Brisbane in 2012
May 30th, 2012 | Meriton Apartments
It seems that Brisbane is fast becoming the festival capital of Australia, and while it is not quite there yet, 2012 will see the Queensland capital celebrating in style yet again. The following are some of the best 2012 festivals Brisbane has on offer.
Enrich Brisbane Festival
This tasty three-day festival will be doing everything it can to get you hyped about food, health and nutrition, and will feature guest speakers, celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, food and wine knowledge workshops, and of course lots of delicious food tasting. If you are a foodie, up-and-coming chef, or just want to be able to cook creative and tasty food for yourself or your family, don’t miss this festival. Tickets range between $27-$30 per day and children under 12 can enter free of charge.
Future Music Festival (FMF)
Held in early March of 2012 at Brisbane’s Doomben Racecourse, this was one rockin’ festival, kicking off a five-stop tour that would see FMF go to Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne after leaving Brisbane. FMF featured a huge array of local and international talent, including megastars Swedish House Mafia and Fatboy Slim. If you couldn’t make it this year, FMF should be back in Brisbane once again next year.
The Brisbane Festival
From September 8-29, 2012, the city of Brisbane will once again collectively let loose, with art, music and entertainment of all types busting out across the city. The festival kicks off with a massive fireworks celebration that lights up the river and the skyline on opening night, then for three weeks events are held in almost every part of the city. This amazing festival transforms Brisbane for three weeks, and you can tell that it is festival time by the energy in the air.
The Brisbane suburb of Shorncliffe will put on a fabulous week-long festival starting March 31 in 2012, and will feature live music, dance performances and competitions, a yacht race and even fireworks! So for a fantastic look at how Brisbane communities do their thing, get yourself some accommodation in Brisbane and spend the week at Bluewater getting to know all of the reasons why you maybe should just move here.
Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival
If you love food, parties and people, you are going to have an absolute blast at the 2012 Claxton Street Festival. Described by many as Brisbane’s biggest street party, often with in excess of 15,000 people, this community based foodie event has grown to become a firm fixture and a permanent highlight of the annual Brisbane festival circuit.
There is no better time of year to come to Brisbane than when there is a festival going on, as the people here really do know how to throw a good party. So whether you like wine, food, music or cars, when you are planning your Queensland holiday this year, make sure you plan to be in Brisbane when your favourite festival is going on. You may have to book your short term accommodation a little earlier to ensure you get a room among the crowds, but you’ll love rolling into Brisbane for your big event.
