  • Make-A-Wish® Australia is the largest Wish-granting organisation in Australia, and the world Our National Office is based in Melbourne with state offices in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne supporting all of Australia
  • We have a network of 58 volunteer branches with over 1000 volunteers across the country
  • Make-A-Wish® Australia is non-gender specific, non-religious and non-political and appeals to a broad target audience - parents, families, general and corporate consumers
  • Over 6,000 Wishes have been granted since our inception in Australia 25 years ago.

WHAT DOES MAKE-A-WISH® AUSTRALIA DO?

  • In 2010 Make-A-Wish® Australia aims to make Wishes come true for 500 children with life-threatening medical conditions.
  • The Foundation’s services are directed to the community at large and children between the age of 3 and 18 who live with a life-threatening medical condition. From birth to three years of age, children are presented with a ‘Wish Hamper’, filled with a selection of fun, age-appropriate toys. When they reach three years of age, they are eligible for a Wish.
  • Doctors, health, professionals and parents apply to the Foundation to grant a Wish to a child they know and/or are working with.
  • Our Wish Services Team then checks with Doctors and Health Professionals the child’s eligibility for a Wish.
  • Once the child has been found eligible for a Wish, Volunteers from the Foundation then visit the Family and ask the child to reach into their imaginations to think of their most cherished Wish.

Our wishes fall into 4 different categories and we ask our Wish Kids to think of anything that begins with:

  • I wish to be… a ballerina, police officer, army tank driver, pop star
  • I wish to go… to the Louvre in Paris, skiing in Switzerland, visit Disneyland in Hong Kong
  • I wish to meet… the Pope in Rome, the Wiggles , my favourite sports or movie star
  • I wish to have… my own cubby house, a computer, play centres or puppy dog
